It was a busy 2016 when our professional manager Gyuri Preyer decided to leave the world of marketing and try his hand at making pizzas in Naples. A year later, in December 2017, after three outings for events, the first unit of Vegazzi opened in the courtyard of the ruin pub Anker’t, where we operated until December 2019.

During this time, we were the first in the following:

We were the first purely plant-based, or vegan, pizzeria in Hungary.

We were the first Neapolitan pizzeria in Hungary to bake a canotto-type, contemporary, or contamporanea Neapolitan pizza in spring 2018.

We were the first pizzeria in Budapest to introduce the yeast-free wild sourdough pizza dough as a permanent menu item in autumn 2018.

After Yes and Digó, we were the third Neapolitan pizza brand in Hungary in spring 2017, at our first outing.

After three and a half years of searching, building and renovating, we opened our first restaurant in August 2023, four minutes on foot from Oktogon, on the corner of Jókai and Zichy Jenő streets.

“Our concept is to operate a purely plant-based kitchen that presents the untapped potential of plant-based ingredients to open-minded foodies with a creativity never before seen in this country. We don’t want to copy traditional dishes, but bring a new dimension of plant-based cuisine to the world of pizza.”
